Lineae | Upcycled Taarkashi Wooden Earrings – Curated & Visualised by Upcycld Art
This upcycled wooden jewellery set is an artisanal piece made in collaboration with the highly skilled team of Taarkashi artisans of Shilp Guru Late Sardar Hussain.
This collection was born from my wish to lend a small, but willing helping hand to support Indian crafts and it’s artisans. Each piece is a unique and limited edition design. It is also an attempt to minimize waste material.
The wood was sourced from discarded material and shaped by hand, keeping its original grain, texture, and imperfections intact, delicately adorned with the intricate art of brass inlay called Taarkashi.
No attempt has been made to erase signs of age or previous use.
The process is intentionally slow. Each piece is worked on individually, allowing the material to guide the final form rather than forcing uniformity or perfection.
This object carries marks from its previous life.
These may include uneven edges, colour variation, small cracks, or surface texture.
These are not defects. They are signs of age, use, and handcrafted art, and are considered part of the finished work.
