UPCYCLED WHAT?!

If Picasso designed a wooden chair for your living room, would you treat it differently? If Van Gogh hand-painted a bedspread, or a lampshade, how would you feel about owning it? It would definitely make you review it with a fresh pair of eyes. Although such items look like art – they are not considered art in the traditional sense.

It can be a rug, a pen, a silk scarf or even a hammer! Art can elevate the value of a simple furniture piece to a heirloom, which you will fall in love with and would want to pass on to your future generations. It is a fun combination of form and function that represents a genuine artistic thought.

These artwork collections are, my attempt at trying to uncover a beauty, that is born from rot. It is a spectacle of impermanence that raises a query about the transient nature of life itself.

All my artworks are covered in handpainted details. These patterns sometimes are inspired by Indian miniatures, floral bouquets of nature, childhood memories, my various travels across the country and sometimes from tribal art forms. My Upcycled Functional Art pieces do not need a purpose to showcase their beauty.
