Summer Travel Story: It had been a very long time, which had started to look like forever since I had taken a break. And Sonapani was the only solution to bring some calm into my otherwise usually hectic, sometimes overwhelming and mostly erratic day-to-day existence of working, this city, its ever-increasing traffic, the daily house chores etc. etc. I HAD to go there.
Sonapani, Hindi for golden water, is a small, serene, beautiful abode on the face of this planet that holds a very special place in my heart. It is a feast for the eyes. Whenever I’m there, I stop. And breathe.
Summer Travel Story: At Himalayan Village, Sonapani I am so secluded from the world, that I’ve even stopped taking books with me…even the written word seems to disturb my peace. I like listening to the silence. Here, life goes on about one-tenth the speed of my urban life. And I love every bit of it.
It’s a small corner of the world that is away, calm and it just lets you be you. A lot has been written about this place, loads of articles and blog posts are available.
All you need to do is Google Sonapani. But I guess it has to be experienced rather than read/seen on a Flickr group or facebook entry or a Youtube video (there are loads of them!!). Maybe my pictures will do the talking for me…
Is there a place on the face of this planet that is your secret travel hideout? Have you been to sonapani? let me know of your experiences in the comments section.
