This collection of  upcycled and handpainted ‘Vintage Chattels’  {furniture } is born from rejected, “old-fashioned” furniture. I use found, rejected wooden products to create my handpainted Upcycled Functional Art. Especially the ones that seem to be hiding a story under layers of dirt and neglect. They become my canvases. I bring these worn out ‘Vintage Chattels’ {furniture} items back to life with my art. There is never an attempt to hide the cracks, bruises and original character of the wood with paint. I strive to keep the story authentic and also reveal the power of the wood’s natural form.

They were initially manufactured as wooden utility items. Discarded once the fad became old news OR minor defects got them to the junk pile. But they are now restored and transformed as display art. All my artworks are covered in handpainted details. These patterns sometimes are inspired by Indian miniatures, floral bouquets of nature, childhood memories, my various travels across the country and sometimes from tribal art forms. These Upcycled Functional Art pieces do not need a purpose to showcase their beauty. This is a unique and original, handpainted piece of art. Its usage is open to your own interpretation.
